ADVANCED SCUBA COURSE
Cost: $150.00 & $75 Boat rides
Course Objective
To increase diving enjoyment and skills through supervised activity and
continuing education for divers who:

Desire additional training.

have moved from diving area to another.
-
Desire orientation to a variety of diving sites.

Need a refresher.
Prerequisites for entering course

Certification at Open water Scuba Diver level by a nationally recognized
agency.

Minimum age for entry in the course is 15.

Students in this course are required to supply their own personal equipment.
This will include: mask, snorkel, fins, boots, gloves, compass, flashlight,
light stick, regulator with gauges, buoyancy compensator, 2 tanks, wetsuit,
hood, and weight belt. If rental necessary, students receive 40% discount.
Course Duration
One lecture in Berkeley and six scuba and snorkel dives in Monterey.
Skills Objective
-
Review and build on basic skills (buoyancy controller descents, buddy breathing
ascents, full mask removal).
- Compass navigation (kick cycles, distances, search patterns, and
natural navigation).

Limited visibility or Night dive (remain underwater for 20 minutes and
surface within 100 feet of entry point).

Deep dive (45-100 feet ).

Naturalists Dive (identification of 10 marine animals).
-
Assists and basic rescues (unconscious diver ascent, panicking diver, tired
diver tow, artificial respiration tow, beach entries and exits in rough
water).
